Dr. Alan Rabinowitz

The name Tiger Heroes was created with the people and organizations who have dedicated blood, sweat, tears and years to the conservation efforts to save wild tigers from extinction. Artist Matthew McAvene found inspiration to create the Tiger Heroes fundraising effort after seeing a screening of Tiger Tiger by George Butler featuring big cat expert, conservationist and CEO of Panthera, Dr. Alan Rabinowitz who spoke and answered questions after the film.

National Geographic Photographer Steve Winter

National Geographic Photographer Steve Winter specializes in wildlife, and particularly, big cats. He’s been named BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year and BBC Wildlife Photojournalist of the Year. He was a two-time winner ofPicture of the Year International’s Global Vision Award and won 1st prize in the nature story category from World Press Photo in 2008 and 2014. He lectures globally on photography and conservation issues and has been interviewed on CBS Nightly News, 60 Minutes, NPR, BBC, and CNN. McAvene saw Steve Winters' National Geographic Live Presentation at UCSB 'On the trail of Big Cats' and found further inspiration from the tremendously talented and dedicated artist and conservationist.
